Colin Saunders

Colin Saunders was born in Wales but grew up in London where his family attended the Bloomsbury Baptist Church. His grandfather had been a minister there in the first three decades of the 20th century.

In this extract, Colin recalls a moment on a summer holiday camp run by the Children’s Special Service Mission when he started to really think about his faith.

Colin read law at King’s College, London, where he joined the Baptist student society which made a great impact on him. After university, he became a solicitor and in 1965, Colin moved to a firm in Oxford and joined the New Road Baptist Church. He became a deacon and then church secretary, a position he held for 15 years. Colin also worked closely with Regent’s College and supported the local groups of Mencap and Christian Aid.

In 1988 Colin moved from New Road Baptist Church to Wesley Memorial. His second wife Helen was already a member and it felt like ‘a natural thing to do’. In this extract Colin explains why.
