This is a Dixon and Co. of Sunderland lustreware commemorative plate, featuring typical pink and gold decoration around the edge of the piece.
Transfers illustrate John Wesley’s profile, his dying words “The best of all God is with us” and record that the first Wesleyan Methodist Society meeting took in 1739.
This was the date chosen as the official beginning of the Wesleyan Methodism which according celebrated its centenary in 1839.
