Unique carved wooden cup

A 1997 Christmas Gift from Simeon, Francine, Faith, Grace and Gloria of Burundi to Wesley Memorial Church in thanksgiving.

In 1994 Simeon, a Burundi post graduate student in Oxford was very distressed to hear that his wife and family had been caught up in the unrest and violence of Burundi and Rwanda.

Their whereabouts were unknown for five months. Simeon returned to look for them knowing that his wife and children would be in Church on Sunday morning. He enlisted ten friends to visit churches in Zaire, whence they had fled.

The search was successful and the family, reunited, settled in Oxford. On their return they presented this unique gift to the congregation at Wesley Memorial Church.
