Glenda was born and brought up in Bristol, although the family had originally come from Wales. She was taken to church by her mother at a young age.
At school she was fascinated by history and has vivid memories of services to commemorate the school’s founder which were held at Bristol Cathedral.
She became a history teacher and moved with her husband Chris to Oxford when he was appointed to a teaching role at St Edwards School. Glenda taught for 16 years at a Catholic convent school in Abingdon.
